Local attractions

Just 5 minutes drive from the gite you will find the Asinerie du Baudet du Poitou, a protected natural area of ​​55 ha, in which works to protect and safeguard the Poitou Baudet breed of donkey.
All tours around the farm are available in English (guided tours, unguided visits.)
We would recommend getting the guided tour where you get the chance to interact with the donkeys themselves including meeting the foals (season dependent)

Sculptors from all over the world have been invited to create works of art either as free standing works or carved directly into the rock. In the summer it is possible to book a rock sculpting lesson.
Combine the visit with a coffee in Saint-Jean D’Angely and a visit to the UNESCO towers, drive on to Les Lapidiales and have a picnic by the river in Port D’Envaux where you can also hire boats

Known as Green Venice this is a delighful place to spend some time either cycling or strolling around the lanes or boating down the canals in a flat bottomed barque. If you don’t fancy rowing yourself you can also hire a guide who will do it for you!
There are also plenty of places to eat and you could also combine it with a trip to La Rochelle.

The Kids’ Town of Futuropolis where children can play at being grown-ups or bounce around on the Water Trampolines. After dark there is a fairytale aquatic evening show from the Cirque du Soleil.

Parc Adventure de Fontdouce

Treetop adventures in the grounds of the famous abbey. Nine rope courses for the older children and 3 for the younger ones with two parallel zip lines each 200m long. Fun games at the abbey and an outdoor laser game complete the game. Bring a picnic or buy from the food truck on site during school holidays.
